Humble Harvest is a local not-for-profit food security program dedicated to reducing food waste while supporting our community. They primarily distribute rescued food—items that stores can no longer sell due to best-before dates or minor packaging damage—but that are still perfectly good to eat. They also gratefully accept non-perishable food and monetary donations. Their mission is simple: good food should never go to waste, and everyone deserves access to nourishment with dignity. All community members are welcome to use the program during their scheduled distribution days.

Lake of the Woods District Stewardship Association (LOWDSA) is the largest non-profit cottager and lake association in Ontario, dedicated to preserving and sustaining the environment and lake life in the Lake of the Woods region. Their vision is that this region remains one of the most beautiful places on earth for present and future generations to enjoy.

LOWDSA runs many Environmental Initiatives and Special Projects (EISPs) including:

  • LakeSmart an award-winning community outreach program designed to offer information to shoreline residents and anyone who enjoys the lakes and environment on ways that they can live and play green at the lake

  • Citizen Science & Invasive Species Tracking initiatives to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species - this includes monitoring programs for zebra mussels and running mobile boat wash stations

Donations to the EISP Fund go directly toward ensuring these ecological initiatives and conservation efforts remain active in the region.
